Reflecting on the tragedy and death of the three young Muslims, Deah Barakat, Yusor and Razan Abu-Salha, in North Carolina this past February, I have been contemplating one of the attributes of God, Al-Wadud, or “the Ever-Loving.” The universe truly turns with the constant give and take of love. Witnessing from a distance, the blessed and beautiful souls who were Deah, Yusor and Razan, it’s not hard to see that the taking of their souls has only brought more love and more solidarity amongst those of us whose lives they have touched. Similarly, so the painting echoes in colors of love, a beloved name of God - the One who loves, for loss is not an occasion or an event, it is something that happens over and over again. And just like that, so does love."
